What is phishing?
Phishing is an information fraud method to gather personal and sensitive data such as credit card number, password, information about your bank account and the like. Personal data are usually requested through e-mails whose sender seems legitimately entitled to do so. As soon as the perpretrator receives the information he can use it and start moving sums of money.
Reminder: No Company of the Iccrea Banking Group requires you to enter personal information or acess id directly via e-mail.
How does it work
Usually, phising is an e-mail that closely resembles that coming from your bank or other legitimate sources that arrives directly into your inbox. The e-mail has a warning message about technical-administrative problems, such as account expiry, and requires you to access through the underlying site link, and enter personal information. Username and password are usually entered in popup windows simulating the original site, its logo, id information, and colors. Unfortunately, fake e-mail fraud coming from banks is the most widespread type of phishing. Usually one is informed that the current account is about to be closed or possible identity theft, or that some new security measures has been put in place.
